Dreamstar Cash, 5th Best Place To Work in Spain for PYMES 2012

Today is an important day in the history of Dreamstar Cash, and a very proud moment for our company, our team and myself.  We found out that Dreamstar Cash ranks 5th on the Great Place to Work ® 2012 index for Spain for the category PYMES ( 20-49 employees).  This is a MASSIVE recognition, by a world wide respected organism like Great Place to Work ®, and something we have worked very hard on for many years!

To create a great place to work, is something that needs to be part of the DNA of the company and overall culture that lives within the team.  The key to success of any business,  lies within the team itself, and is something that needs to be unlocked.  By creating the best possible environment and work place, you enable every person to grow and deliver their best work.  This is especially true for online businesses where the majority of the team is built of “knowledge workers“.  A great work environment, doesn’t mean you introduce a pingpong table and some other perks, and the job is done.  It goes a long way beyond that.

Over the years, as the company culture grew to what it is today, many tweaks were made along the way.  From introducing a flexible time table, offering off-site training and conference attendance to all team members, being transparent and sharing information with the entire team, celebrating important milestones, encouraging people to take ownership & responsibility, and the list goes on and on.  Keeping the organization hierarchy as flat as possible has also been key.  My door is always open for any 1-on-1 time with any team member.  There is no single recipe for success.

To be sharing the top 5 (out of more then 50 participating companies), in our first year participating in the Great Place to Work ® 2012 process is a huge honor!  It’s the ranking index that really matters.

Changes in Porn Trends

2012 has been a very interesting year for Dreamstar Cash as far as the changes in content trends are concerned.  Here in the Content Department we  have experimented with different forms of clips on the site, as well as trying different thumbnails and displays to draw people into viewing various clips.  Obviously everyone has their own favourite niche where porn is concerned, however, its always nice to see changes and fluctuations in views and clicks and it never fails to interest us – its the best way for us to make sure our sites have something for everyone – and that’s exactly what keeps us motivated from day to day.  Keeping up with changing trends, interests and making sure when people visit our sites they can guarantee there will be something that will keep them coming back time and time again.

Interview Ocupa´t

On the 8th of November, Dreamstar Cash made it!! The first time we are on TV with our office in Altea. “Canal 9″ TV channel came to interview us about the job openings we have in this moment. After the show we received around 15-20 CV´s and more are coming every day still.

Four people got interviewd, the first one was Steve Matthyssen, which was talking about the history of Dreamstar Cash, then next Melanie Turk talked about the culture of the company. Pablo Deeleman explained exactly what we are looking for and what we are offering to the candiates, and Javier Gomez explained what his daily work flow is and how the team works and tackles different problems.

The interview is in Spanish / Valenciano, but we hope you can understand it a little bit!

Office Acitivity 2012

After some hard work we created our first video from the Office Activity. It is a great video to watch after looking at the pictures we made. Jeremy is also our private photographer at the office and he decided to do a video of all of us , he did an amazing job!

The clip is nearly 12 min long, and  you can see that everyone is having a great time with some good drinks and a nice Paella on the sea. We rented two big sailing boats and went along the coasts from Altea to Calpe. Two jet skies were also available for the people which wanted to go crazy with the waves

I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

JT – aka The YouPorn Guy, is now the PornTube Guy

From gate crashing 4Tubes party to celebrate breaking into Alexa’s top 500 while on holiday in Alicante in August 2009 to joining the team at Dreamstar Cash in January 2012, it has been quite a journey for me. My name is JT and I was a founding member of YouPorn.com.

We launched YouPorn.com in late 2006 and sold to Manwin in May 2011. I served as Director of Global Business. Known to many as The YouPorn Guy, I was the face, eyes and ears of YouPorn and responsible for the monetization of the company’s user base that we grew to over 370 million monthly visitors. 4Tube and its 3 year path to success

3 years ago a life changing event for both the company and myself took place.  After 4 months of development, building up a pornstar database, working with a lot of affiliate programs, we launched 4Tube.com.  Today, I can happily say, that this paved the road for the future of the company, and has opened doors to many great new opportunities.  Since then we have tripled our staff, re-located to our new office in July 2010, launched other successful projects like PornTube.com, and some exciting things in the works for 2012.  As part of this 3 year celebration I will document the history of 4Tube, and discuss some of the challenges we faced during this period.  Continue Reading →

4Tube celebrates its 3rd Anniversary

Just as the DSC Team loves working hard and pushing ourselves and the company to the next level, we also enjoy acknowledging our achievements, and having lots of fun and parties. What better way to combine our favourite past times, than celebrating 4Tube´s 3rd Anniversary. Melanie and I decided it would be a nice idea to surprise everyone, Steve included, with a delicious Banana Sponge-cake with Nutella filling, and our 4Tube logo on the front.  A big balloon banner was made with the logo on also, and the whole staff took some time out at lunch to enjoy the cake and a moment to reflect on all the hard work put into the project, and all the benefits gained from its success. Agile, Barcelona and some Dutch guy called Jurgen

While looking for inspiration on how to solidly deliver the agile message throughout the layers of the business, I came across a keynote speech on vimeo delivered by Jurgen Appelo.

During the video, Jurgen was covering some of the concepts found in his recently released book Management 3.0.
The concepts and the manner in which he was explaining them rung true in my ears. It was complex thinking put simply and made obvious.
Jurgens humorous attitude, like a spoon full of sugar helped the concepts slip down. The video came to a close and I realized I’d been watching for an hour and a quarter. People in the office were looking at me wondering what had been so entertaining and I felt enriched in the concepts I believed in. I had to pass this along.

I was excited to hear Steve and the others at Dreamstar Cash were also taken by Jurgens words. It was put forward that Steve, Rodney, Ryan and myself attend the Management 3.0 training Jurgen himself was presenting in Barcelona. It is very rare in most companies to have the opportunity to take all the major stakeholders together on a course like this. With the Agile management course in conjunction with training for other team members, this was a prefect opportunity for the business to collectively solidify our knowledge and align under agile principals adding to our commitment of continually improving ourselves and delivering high quality customer focused solutions. Barcelona PHP Conference 2011 #pbc2011 & #MozCation

A few months back we decided that we wanted to start sending members of our team to both national and international conferences and events that would help them stay abreast of the ever changing aspects of their particular roles so you can imagine how excited we were to see that from the 28th-29th of October would be the annual PHP conference in one of our favorite cities, Barcelona but that it also coincided with the SEOmoz event – MozCation, BRILLIANT!!

Our Site Revamp

About a year ago we decided to launch the first version of our company site http://www.dreamstarcash.com. Up until then we’d never really had any major requirement for a site, all hires were local, and most of our business relationships were handled over ICQ or skype.

2010 was a busy year. In July we moved into our new offices and over the course of the year we doubled the number of members in our team. Collaboration tools were becoming increasingly important so we decided to migrate to Google Apps for Business

As part of this process we needed a domain to run all the new emails under, up until that moment most people were using the @fux.com for there emails on an internal mail server. We were increasingly moving into more mainstream circles, attending SEO conferences, Agile Development seminars and a bunch of other events. It was at this stage it became apparent that it would be useful to use a more mainstream-friendly branding for ourselves as a lot of the talent we were hoping to tap into was to be found there.
